Lafarge Cement sees profit down a fifth

Lafarge Cement made a Kč 301 million profit last year, down roughly a fifth against 2008, and revenues fell from Kč 1.97 billion to Kč 1.59 billlion, according to results the company made public in an invitation to its general meeting. Sales decreased by over 18 percent to Kč 1.2 billion.

Out of 2008's profit of Kč 379-4 million, which was some one-tenth higher than in 2007, Lafarge Cement paid dividends of Kč 332 per share. It also produced the highest amount of cement in its history in 2008-nearly 840,000 tons, while last year cement production decreased to roughly 634,000 tons. Lafarge cement has some 180 employees. It is a member of French concern Lafarge.
